Cruise ships facing disruption because of COVID-19 outbreaks

CHICAGO (NewsNation Now) — Excursions on at least four cruise ships based out of Florida were canceled or turned away from ports this past week due to COVID-19 outbreaks.

A Carnival cruise ship from Florida was denied entry into Bonaire and Aruba on Thursday after a few people tested positive on the ship. Instead of making three stops, the ship made only one.

According to a study done by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 20,000 people died in motor vehicle crashes in the first half of 2021. Staff shortages lead to long lines at US ports of entry

WASHINGTON (NewsNation Now) — Weekend holiday travelers are facing long lines at several U.S. ports of entry across the southern border.

At the port of entry in Brownsville, Texas, there is a reported hour and a half wait. The city of Hidalgo, Texas is reporting a three-hour wait time. In San Luis, its an hour wait time. In Tecate, it’s a nearly two-hour wait.

Some of these wait times are similar to last year’s delays, but overall, people are waiting in their cars much longer in 2021.

Chris Noth accused of sexual assault by two women

CHICAGO (NewsNation Now) — “Sex and the City” star Chris Noth, best known for his role as Mr. Big, and the show’s new HBO Max reboot, “And Just Like That…,” has been accused of sexual assault by two women.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the women, who go by aliases Zoe and Lilly, say it happened in the early 2000’s.

Zoe, 40, told THR that she worked at a high-profile firm where Noth regularly had business. She said Noth, who was 49 at the time, would come by her desk and flirt with her.

CHICAGO (NewsNation Now) — The Occupational Safety and Health Administration charged with implementing President Biden’s vaccine mandate for large businesses is putting those plans on hold. OSHA says it’s suspending its implementation and enforcement of the mandate due to a series of lawsuits and a court order last week.

The ruling by the court ordered that OSHA can take no steps to implement or enforce what is known as an emergency temporary standard “until further court order.”
